John concentrates his practice on complex product liability matters. He defends manufacturers of products from a variety of industries, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals.

Applying the insights he gained as an appellate clerk to better serve his clients, John uses a detail-oriented and methodical approach at all stages of litigation — from jurisdictional issues at the onset of cases through the appeals process. He has successfully authored or argued hundreds of motions, handled all phases of discovery, and managed a multidistrict litigation that involved tens of thousands of cases. After litigating cases in over 25 states, John is comfortable defending companies in any courtroom.

Notably, John’s appreciation of strategic legal writing and civil procedure has helped obtain favorable court orders and rulings on jurisdictional issues, motions to stay, motions to dismiss, motions for judgment on the pleadings, discovery disputes, motions for summary judgment, pre- and post-arbitration briefing, and pre-trial briefing. And outside of issues before the court, John has counseled clients on pre-litigation disputes, settlement, and regulatory matters.

Before joining Nelson Mullins, John was an associate with one of the largest product liability law firms in the world, where he defended and obtained favorable results for companies in high-stakes litigation.  John’s accomplishments earned him the recognition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch — an award reserved for select attorneys who have displayed outstanding professional excellence.
