Washington, D.C. Senior Policy Advisor Liz Demaree was honored with the Order pro Merito Melitensi silver medal by the Order of Malta on Nov. 15 for her pro bono work and volunteer contributions to Malta Camp USA.

Demaree plays an active role in supporting the organization’s efforts to provide a year-round community for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, centered around a week-long summer camp. Founded in 2022, Malta Camp USA is the only program of its kind in the U.S. welcoming participants from all backgrounds nationwide.

The Order pro Merito Melitensi is awarded to exceptional contributors to the charitable, humanitarian, and spiritual goals of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, a Catholic lay religious order established over 900 years ago. Demaree, a Dame of Malta since 2014, has served the Order in various capacities, demonstrating her long-standing commitment to its charitable, humanitarian, and spiritual missions.
