Boca Raton partner David Itskovich, assisted by associate Nick Carbo, represented OKO Group and Cain International in a 50,000-square-foot office space lease to Microsoft Corp., which plans to make it a regional hub after moving its Latin America team to the space by mid-2023.
“This is an important lease for the Miami office market and validates the growing tech talent in South Florida and is representative of the continuing sophistication of the Florida economy. We’re no longer just in the sun and surf business,” Itskovich said.
In separate transactions, Itskovich also represented the companies in two other high-profile leases.
Toronto-based CI Financial, one of Canada’s largest global asset and wealth management companies, will establish its U.S. headquarters in the Brickell Financial District alongside Microsoft, leasing 20,000 square feet.
“CI Financial is the largest financial institution to ever place a headquarters in South Florida,” Miami Mayor Francis Suarez said in a statement. “The significance of this cannot be overstated and moves us further towards our goal to become the ‘capital of capital.’ “
Chicago-based private equity giant Thoma Bravo also has signed for 36,500 square feet for its Florida expansion. The company will occupy the two top floors. Thoma Bravo plans to relocate existing staff to Miami and boost hiring in the area. The firm has more than $70 billion in assets under management and focuses on investments in the software- and technology-enabled service sectors.
The space at 830 Brickell is a Class A office tower under construction and is expected to be complete in 2022.
