A deal team of Ben Barnhill, Brittany McIntosh, and Troy Varrasse represented First National Corporation and its wholly owned subsidiary, First Bank, in its consummation of the previously announced merger of The Bank of Fincastle with and into First Bank. Kathy Solley assisted on compensation and employment matters, and Maurice Holloway offered counsel on tax matters. The surviving bank will remain a wholly owned subsidiary of First National Corporation and will continue to operate as a Virginia state bank under the name First Bank. The consolidated bank would have had total assets of approximately $1.2 billion, loans of approximately $868 million, and deposits of approximately $1.1 billion as of December 31, 2020.
