Nelson Mullins partner Scott Knapp was recently officially certified as a Florida Supreme Court Circuit Civil Mediator. Knapp, who works in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale office, will be certified for the next two years.
Circuit mediators are court-appointed positions and must adhere to various rules outlined in the Florida Constitution. Applicants must meet education requirements, complete a Florida Supreme Court approved mediation certification course in the specialty area, either observe or co-mediate a number of mediation cases in that specialty area, and have good moral character.
Knapp’s practice at Nelson Mullins focuses on complex business and civil litigation. He has experience representing clients in matters involving breach of contract, enforcement of restrictive covenants, class actions, consumer protection, unfair and deceptive trade practices, upstream entity and corporate liability defense, partnership disputes, professional liability, other business torts, and bankruptcy-related litigation.
