Nelson Mullins Welcomes Emerging Companies Team in New York

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (March 16, 2022) — National law firm Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP announced today the arrival of a five-person emerging companies practice in New York led by partners Joseph Daniels and Arina Shulga. The team most recently worked together at McCarter & English.

Daniels joins as co-chair of the firm’s Emerging Companies practice. He represents startup and publicly held technology, life sciences, and consumer companies as well as venture capital funds, private equity funds, and investment banks located in the U.S. and around the world. He has executed hundreds of key financings, mergers and acquisitions, and initial public offering transactions for companies and investors at every stage of the business life cycle.

Daniels also serves as outside general counsel for numerous companies, assisting them with everything from day-to-day business transactions to multinational strategic alliance transactions, including technology and distribution partnerships and joint ventures. He focuses on representing clients involved in high-growth sectors and has experience with a vast number of industries, including adtech, aerospace, AI, biotech, blockchain, cleantech, consumer, cryptocurrency, digital media, e-commerce, edge computing, Internet of Things, FinTech/financial services, life sciences, medical device, mobile, semiconductor, software, and telecommunications.

Shulga represents emerging companies from formation through rounds of financing, growth and exit, and advises angel investors and venture capital funds in making and exiting investments. Among Shulga’s clients are many emerging investment fund managers launching both hedge, private equity and venture funds.  Shulga forms and structures fund management entities with a particular focus on maximizing tax benefits, profit sharing, and federal and state regulatory compliance. She regularly structures and negotiates complex software license agreements, master services agreements, support level agreements, software escrow agreements, purchase orders, and terms of use for technology company clients.

Along with Daniels and Shulga, three associates have joined the firm: Geoffrey Garrett, Andrew Crowe, and Matthew O’Brien. Nick Nieto also joined the firm as a paralegal.
