Nelson Mullins Makes Largest Climb in The American Lawyer’s National Pro Bono Scorecard

Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP made the largest climb in this year’s, The American Lawyer Pro Bono Scorecard, rising 26 places from No. 71 to No. 45. In recognizing the firm’s achievement, The American Lawyer noted that “Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough ascended the most in the ranking.

The recognition reflects the collective commitment of Nelson Mullins lawyers, professional staff, and firm leaders to expanding access to justice and serving clients and causes that might otherwise go without legal representation.

“Behind this ranking are tens of thousands of hours each year helping people find safety, stability, justice, and a path forward,” said Elisa Kodish, firmwide Pro Bono Partner at Nelson Mullins.

Nelson Mullins’ pro bono work spans adoption and child advocacy, survivor protection, veterans’ services, housing and community development, nonprofit governance, small-business support, civil rights, and impact litigation. Through this work, the firm provides critical legal support and helps improve the systems and institutions that shape opportunity and well-being.

The American Lawyer’s 2026 Pro Bono Scorecard: National Report is a leading ranking of pro bono efforts across Am Law 200 firms, measuring the breadth and depth of each firm’s commitment.

Since launching its formal program 35 years ago, Nelson Mullins has contributed more than one million hours to expanding access to justice. In 2025, Nelson Mullins lawyers and professionals contributed nearly 60,000 hours of pro bono service and opened more than 600 new pro bono matters.
