Nelson Mullins has handled four of the 20 largest bank mergers in the U.S. over the past 12 months, representing a total of $6.3 billion in equity transaction value, according to data regarding the largest bank mergers in S&P Global Market Intelligence compiled by Sandler O’Neill + Partners, L.P., a leading financial services sector investment banking firm.
The firm was tied for the second most active firm in the U.S. in large bank mergers in the 12 month period, ending January 31, 2019, behind only Simpson Thacher and tied with Wachtell Lipton. Greenville, S.C. partner John Jennings was the lead attorney in three of these transactions, making him tied for the third most active lead attorney in the country in the large bank mergers included in the Sandler O’Neill data set. In addition, Nelson Mullins handled a total of 12 bank mergers in 2018, involving banks headquartered in 11 different states.
