Meet Nelson Mullins’ Women in Transactions Group

Nelson Mullins' Women in Transactions (WIT) group is focused on helping to foster the career advancement of women in transaction fields and create opportunities for women to lead transactions within their practice area. These include all women in our corporate, M&A, real estate, finance, private equity, healthcare, intellectual property, and other regulatory compliance practice areas and is open to all firmwide.

WIT works to elevate its members within the firm (and later expand outside the firm) with the goal to:

  • Create targeted marketing to raise the individual profiles for business development and internal recruitment efforts with the goal to help combat the industry misperception that there are not female deal leaders, help attract and retain key female talent.
  • Examine opportunities for additional education and cross-marketing within the various transactional practice groups and other affinity groups.
  • Partner with other thought leaders both within and outside the firm for development, growth and networking opportunities to increase the profile of women deal leaders
  • Support and empower women in WIT to increase the number of women in lead roles on transactions in their field.

Current members are: Colleen Pleasant Kline (Chair), Katie Irwin, Katelyn Fredericks, Rebekah McCorvey, Amanda Chong, Madeleine Mateo, Kelly Dunn Waters, Jenna Lasseter, and Angela Edwards. WIT held its first official meeting on March 1.
