Matthew McRoberts has joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s Estate Planning & Trusts team as of counsel in Naples, Florida.

McRoberts focuses his practice on advising business owners in a variety of industries with their tax, business, and estate planning needs. He focuses on helping business owners maximize their wealth and protect it, generationally, through various gifting strategies. This includes implementing tax advantaged structures, exit planning, and utilizing complex trusts.

He also has a robust practice representing individuals and businesses before the IRS. He has represented clients facing employment and income tax audits, trust fund recovery penalties, tax shelter promoter penalties, and has assisted clients with collections workouts, including offers in compromise and multimillion-dollar innocent spouse relief. McRoberts has resolved matters at the examination and appellate levels as well as with IRS counsel without the need for litigation. 

In addition, McRoberts represents many public charities and foundations related to obtaining their tax-exempt status, their governance, and related issues.

McRoberts earned his JD from Penn State University as well as his Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University School of Law. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Government from the University of Texas.
