Matthew G. Lindenbaum to Serve on Inaugural KIND Committee

Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), a national nonprofit organization that protects the rights of migrant children, has appointed Boston partner Matthew G. Lindenbaum to its inaugural Boston Advisory Committee. As one of the first members of the committee, Lindenbaum will provide strategic guidance to the Boston office as it works to ensure that no immigrant child faces court proceedings alone.

"It is an honor to join the Boston Advisory Committee and help advance KIND’s mission in Boston," said Lindenbaum, in light of his new role. "KIND’s help is needed now more than ever.”

Beyond representing immigrant children in court, KIND advances laws and policies that will protect their rights in the U.S. and promotes migration solutions in their countries of origin. Nelson Mullins has grown its involvement with KIND over the past few years, with attorneys from the Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Washington, D.C., and South Carolina offices taking on KIND's pro bono cases.

Lindenbaum told KIND in a 2018 interview why he chooses to represent migrant children in court. "Helping the most vulnerable in society — children who had done nothing wrong and who could benefit from my working with them — is just the right thing to do," Lindenbaum said.

In his everyday practice, Lindenbaum defends companies in complex civil litigation, especially focusing on class action defense in consumer matters. He also represents companies and individuals in government investigations and conducts internal investigations on behalf of his clients. He is a fellow of the Boston Bar Foundation Society of Fellows and the editor of Nelson Mullins’ Investigations Blog.
