ORLANDO, Fla. (September 30, 2020) – The Orlando Business Journal has named Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP Partner Hollie Croft as an honoree in the Orlando Business Journal’s 2020 40 Under 40 Awards. Honorees are leaders from across Central Florida who are considered the best in their industries, playing a key role in shaping the community, and younger than 40 years old.
Croft will be recognized in an upcoming issue of the OBJ on Nov. 13. She was nominated by colleague and firm partner Randal Alligood.
“Throughout the course of her career, Hollie Croft has been at the forefront of one of the most pressing issues facing Florida and the country: affordable housing,” the nomination read. “This was a practice area Croft had been focused on for more than a decade across the country. One of a select few equity partners under 40 at Nelson Mullins, Croft is a member of the Affordable Housing & Tax Credits and Real Estate practice groups, representing for-profit and nonprofit developers in the development, acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, operation and sale of affordable multifamily housing. It’s work that only a handful of law firms in the state even do – a niche industry to say the least.”
At Nelson Mullins, Croft has played a key role in helping to build the firm’s affordable housing practice group in the state while also playing a key role in the state’s initiative to better understand Florida’s affordable housing needs through her involvement as a board member for the Florida Coalition of Affordable Housing Providers. In 2018, she served alongside some of Florida’s top leaders as part of a special short-term workgroup to provide recommendations to the Florida Legislature and then Gov. Scott to address the state’s affordable housing needs. She was the only practicing attorney to serve.
