CHARLESTON -- Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP announced today that Lauren Michele Burns has joined the firm in its Charleston office, where she will practice with the Healthcare Team. She joins as of counsel from University of Maryland Medical System where she served as associate counsel.
Burns represents clients in healthcare transactional and regulatory matters. As a former in-house attorney for two healthcare entities, she has a background in advising legal and operational leaders on state and federal healthcare regulations, including Stark, Anti-Kickback, Civil Monetary Penalties and HIPAA. She has experience drafting and negotiating contracts for hospitals, including physician transaction agreements, management services agreements, vendor agreements, real estate and equipment leases, and timeshare agreements.
Burns earned her J.D. from Boston University School of Law and a BS in finance from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), cum laude.
