Brad Rustin Named Top 40 Under 40

Greenville partner Dowse Bradwell “Brad” Rustin IV has been selected by the GSA Business Report for its 2021 Class of 40 Under 40. Rustin chairs the firm's Financial Services Regulatory Practice.

The 40 Under 40 honor recognizes the accomplishments of 40 professionals under the age of 40 who are making an impact on Upstate S.C. The winners consist of individuals in various industries, localities, and both professional and community involvements.

Rustin leads a team of attorneys who have a national practice representing clients in bank regulatory and FinTech matters. He has previously been named by Greenville Business Magazine Legal Elite of the Upstate for Banking and Finance and by Financial Times North America Innovative Lawyers for "Creating a New Standard," and he has been listed as a South Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Star.

Rustin serves his community in several ways, from coaching and judging mock trial programs at the middle, high school, and college level to service on the board of non-profit organizations.  He provides pro bono legal services with multiple non-profits, community development financial institutions, and local/regional governments focused on access to education for traditionally underserved communities.  Most recently he has been assisting a number of nonprofits on the development of income share agreement programs—education finance tools where funders pay for a student’s education in exchange for payments linked to a student’s post-graduation income.  He helped pioneer these products and continues to provide legal services to these groups on a national basis.  He has received recognitions for his work to help displaced blue-collar workers retrain in technology fields and, most recently, assisted the Student Freedom Initiative, the largest fund of its kind which is focused on providing financing for students attending historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and minority serving institutions (MSIs).

Rustin was selected for his integrity, dedication to his community, and overall deployment of his abilities to make a difference in Upstate S.C.
