ATLANTA -- Atlanta Partner Jeong-Hwa “June” Lee has been selected as one of this year’s Women Who Mean Business Award recipients by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
The sixth annual Women Who Mean Business Awards recognize the most influential businesswomen from every industry and profession in metro Atlanta. The publication chose 21 women who drive Atlanta business in all different industries and professions. Honorees will be recognized at a dinner at the Atlanta History Center on October 17, 2019.
Lee is the leader of Nelson Mullins’ International and Immigration team and Korea Practice. She provides business-oriented practical legal counsel on matters ranging from first-time operations in the U.S., compliance with government and industry regulations, continuing operations, growth strategies and dispute resolution. She helps them with a wide range of matters including site selection, incentive negotiations, M&A, business contracts, and global mobility matters for these international companies. She often acts as her clients’ outside general counsel.
Lee is an active member of the Atlanta community, serving on the boards of a wide range of organizations dedicated to bettering Atlanta’s business community and those in need.
She founded the Korean American Bar Association of Georgia (KABA-GA) in 2012 with the goal to mentor young minority lawyers in the Atlanta area. Additionally, she has initiated programs for Chonnam National University, her alma mater, where Korean law students can come to the United States to get a glimpse of American law practice. Many participants shared that the experiences from these programs were “life-changing.” She also started and supports a scholarship program at Speer Girls’ High in Kwangju, Korea, to provide full-tuitions for the entire three years of high school for select recipients, so that the young girls do not have to worry about the tuitions but focus on their studies.
Lee serves on the board of directors and is former president of the Korea Southeast U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The organization promotes economic development opportunities for business professionals in Korea and the Southeast U.S., providing up-to-date public trade and investment information, promoting goodwill, encouraging commerce and facilitating trade meetings. She also serves on the board of directors for Gwinnett Place CID to help with the area’s efforts to revitalize and promote diverse business environment.
