Atlanta Partner June Lee Named Immigration Trailblazer

National Law Journal

ATLANTA – The National Law Journal has chosen Jeong-Hwa “June” Lee, a partner in Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough’s Atlanta office, as a 2019 Immigration Law Trailblazer. The award recognizes “attorneys who have moved the needle in the legal industry,” according to the publication.

Lee leads the Firm’s International and Immigration team and its Korea practice, which she founded. She has assisted dozens of Korean manufacturers in locating to the South, helping them with site selection, incentive negotiations, and immigration matters.

Lee also founded the Korean American Bar Association of Georgia five years ago to mentor young minority attorneys, noting the absence of mentors before she joined Nelson Mullins.

In addition, she has initiated programs for Chonnam National University, her alma mater, where Korean law students can come and observe how U.S. law firms work. Participants say they have found these opportunities to be “life-changing.” Lee and her classmates have formed a scholarship to pay school tuition for young girls. She has vowed to never turn away a young person seeking mentorship and help.

Lee first came to the United States as a foreign student in 1981, having escaped the political turmoil that roiled South Korea. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees before pursuing a law degree at the University of Georgia School of Law.

Established in 1897, Nelson Mullins has more than 785 attorneys and government relations professionals with offices in 11 states and Washington, DC.  For more information on the firm, go to www.nelsonmullins.com
