Nelson Mullins partner Amy B. Cheng was recently named by business magazine Georgia Trend on its 500 Most Influential Georgia Leaders 2024 list. 

Cheng, who is based out of the firm's Atlanta office, was honored in the "Professional Services" division of the listing, which chooses from among the top personnel in law, accounting, architecture, consulting, cybersecurity, and interior design in the state. 

As a vetted litigator with almost a decade of experience, Cheng helps a variety of clients from early-stage startups to multinational corporations in healthcare and other industries with employment, commercial, white-collar, and government investigations matters. She advises clients on critical business matters, including employment agreements and regulations, termination and grievance procedures, state and federal agency charges, breach of contract, and tortious claims. 

Cheng brings a business-savvy approach to assisting clients in mitigating and managing risks, drawing on her significant trial experience when disputes arise to advocate for her clients both in settlement negotiations and in the courtroom.

Georgia Trend is a magazine covering Georgia business, politics and economic development since 1985. It is the only statewide business publication in the market. In her listing in the magazine, published in early November, Cheng said that being a lawyer, "gives me a platform to give back and to make a difference in the community. That's something that is very important to me." 

Outside of her practice, she involves herself in the community by serving on the boards of the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Georgia Lawyer for the Arts, the advisory council of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and is the first Asian American, Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander (AANHPI) president of the Atlanta Bar Association. 

"Giving back and recognizing, honoring, and celebrating the various different pockets of our community that make Atlanta and Georgia great...that's what I enjoy outside of work," Cheng said.
