Amy Cheng Makes Nelson Mullins History as First Partner Chosen for Leadership Georgia 2026

Leadership Georgia selected Atlanta partner Amy B. Cheng for its class of 2026. She’s one of 63 selected from a pool of several hundred applicants who will visit five Georgia communities to learn more about important issues affecting the state. Leadership Georgia is one of the nation’s oldest and most successful leadership training programs for young business, civic, and community leaders that have the desire and potential to work together for a better Georgia.

“The central belief and philosophy of Leadership Georgia is for each class to learn from each other’s different perspectives and work together as one united force for Georgia’s best future,” said Cheng. “Having been a citizen of Georgia since I was 18 years old, being accepted into this prestigious program means the world to me. My hope is to continue to work with others who love this state as much as I do to ensure its citizens continue to thrive, and Georgia remains a beacon for other states to follow.”

Cheng is the first Nelson Mullins lawyer to participate in the program, marking a significant milestone for the firm.

“Leadership Georgia is one of the strongest programs in our state. It is a very competitive process and I am proud to be an alum and even more proud to welcome Amy and excited that she has secured a place in this distinguished organization,” said Kat Taylor, Director of Engagement and Opportunity.

Cheng is an experienced litigator who helps clients from early-stage startups to multinational corporations in healthcare and other industries with employment, commercial, white-collar, and government investigations matters. She regularly advises clients on critical business matters including employment agreements and regulations, termination and grievance procedures, state and federal agency charges, breach of contract, and tortious claims. Cheng brings a business-savvy approach to assisting clients in mitigating and managing risks, and when disputes arise, she draws on her significant trial experience to advocate for her clients both in settlement negotiations and in the courtroom.
