In an article published by the Pittsburgh Business Times about law firms relocating to Pittsburgh on June 22, Nelson Mullins Managing Partner Jim Lehman and Pittsburgh managing partner Tim Gallagher were quoted about why Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP decided to expand to the Midwest. The answer is simple: to better serve clients. Since the firm already has clients in the area, Lehman viewed the location as a “sweet spot” to continue expansion.
Lehman said, “We think we’re an alternative opportunity that gives lawyers a chance to set their own rates, manage their business the way they think is the best way to do it as opposed to being dictated by some management committee, and still be able to integrate into a larger firm.” Gallagher added that there are already 18 lawyers that are in downtown Pittsburgh, and that the number of firm attorneys in the new office is expected to continue growing.
