In a Q&A with the Atlanta Business Chronicle published on Oct. 1, Atlanta partner June Lee discusses the importance of leadership and related advice to help emerging female leaders achieve their goals. “I too have been content to just do my work and keep my head down, but we have a responsibility to our next generation of women professionals to show an example of successful careers and help them where we can,” she shares.

A replant from Korea who immigrated to the U.S. during her college years, Lee explains that learning new customs and ways of thinking was a slow, challenging process, but it ultimately shaped her leadership abilities. “Taking on the challenge of the legal profession in my second language was one of the most ambitious goals I set for myself, and I am rewarded each day for taking that risk,” she continues.

She advises younger professionals to help each other grow, as she attributes her own accomplishments to her work assisting others. “I helped my clients without regard to legal fees, I helped young people find jobs and counseled regarding their careers, and I tried to help whoever asked for my help, and most of them returned the favors by giving me projects and referring clients,” she states. “I also try to encourage them to think outside the box and to challenge the status quo.”
