Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP will be honored at a ceremony in May by the Daily Business Review with two Florida Legal Awards for achievements in 2021.
The firm will be recognized in the Real Estate Transactions category, and Miami Office Managing Partner Mark Raymond will be honored as among Florida’s Best Mentors.
According to his nomination, Raymond takes it upon himself to assist younger lawyers as they learn their practice areas, providing them important leadership lessons. He nurtures the next generation of leaders using his trademark techniques: (1) listening to them, respecting their careers, seeking their thoughts, and offering input; and (2) including his associates in high-level strategy meetings when opposing counsel is not including theirs, providing opportunities to learn in real time.
Raymond seeks associates’ input on management issues because he knows that one day they will face similar issues and need these skills, and he wants them to excel, knowing there is no better teacher than experience. One young associate said, “If Mark Raymond, with his decades of experience, seeks my opinion and believes I can accomplish a task, it gives me the confidence to believe in myself as well.” Read the DBR interview with Raymond.
The firm also was recognized for closing multiple large transactions for clients in multi-family, office, and retail industries in Florida in 2021. The real estate team led by Boca Raton partner David Itskovich handled transactions for 830 Brickell, Beachwalk Retail Center, Uptown Boca, The Bainbridge Companies, Aventon Companies, and Reunion Village.
