Daniel Newman Shares How Miami Law Prepared Him for High-Stakes Litigation

University of Miami School of Law

Daniel Newman, an award-winning securities litigator, recently reflected on how his experience at the University of Miami School of Law shaped his career in high-stakes litigation.

In an interview with his alma mater, Newman credited the school’s rigorous curriculum, Socratic teaching method, and hands-on courses like Litigation Skills with sharpening his analytical thinking and advocacy abilities. He also emphasized the lasting impact of Miami Law’s alumni network, noting that key career opportunities, including his role at the SEC, stemmed directly from connections made during his time at the university.

“Successful lawyers must first hone their skills to become excellent lawyers,” Newman said. “They must also be able to connect with people, empathize, and develop meaningful relationships. The Law School provided an excellent foundation upon which to build a strong legal career. It promoted opportunities for strong relationships between students, and between faculty and students.”
