Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s Fintech and Regulation Practice Chair, Richard Levin, joined FintechTV for a discussion about crypto company Coinbase, which has just secured a license to operate offshore in Bermuda to expand international operations amidst SEC conflict. This comes after Congressional hearings about crypto-regulation, and how to navigate the digital asset industry.
Discussing the issues Congress is trying to solve, Levin told the outlet, “The problem we have is that firms can register as a securities exchange, or they can choose to register as a broker dealer offering trades and electronic marketplace. The problem is the vast majority of crypto currencies that have been sold without a registration with the SEC or Safe Harbor.”
