The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) produced new guidance on workplace harassment. In an article published on July 3 in HR.com’s Legal and Compliance Excellence, Nelson Mullins partner Marquetta Bryan and associate Rose Collins discuss how the final guidance will be used to evaluate claims of workplace harassment.
“This new guidance presents the potential for legal challenges, arguing that it goes beyond the protections envisioned through Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, particularly in the area of accommodating religious freedoms in the workplace,” Marquetta and Rose explained. “Employers should take the time to ensure that their current policies conform with the new guidance and to review their history of complaints of workplace harassment.
