In an article published on April 29 in Daily Business Review, Fort Lauderdale partner Michael Marshall discusses clarifications to Florida’s Live Local Act through this year’s Senate Bill 328, known as the “Enhancement Bill”. This bill clarifies many of the original act’s provisions which had been unclear, leading to confusion or even dispute. Despite these clarifications, Marshall says there are more questions to come.
“The Live Local Act is unquestionably a tremendous piece of legislation that has been loved and hated depending on the audience,” says Marshall. “The need for policy intervention on affordable housing is equally unquestionable, but the Live Local Act is not a quick fix or ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution. The Enhancement Bill has clarified many questions, but results under the Live Local Act will continue to be varied and diverse depending on the proposed project’s location.”
