Securities Law and Practice 2020: How the SEC Works
Nashville partner Gary Brown will speak at a PLI workshop on Oct. 6 on "How the SEC Works." Brown is a PLI faculty member and speaks regularly on securities law.
Attendees will learn the basics of federal securities laws as well as the operating divisions at the SEC that administer the laws. In addition, they will learn about:
- Perspectives of a ’33 Act and ’34 Act practice
- Interactions on filings with the SEC staff
- What are best practices for working with the SEC
- Getting involved in the rulemaking process - can you be effective in advocating at the proposal stage?
- How do you stay abreast of important developments
- Concerns about developments outside of your particular expertise?
- What SEC pronouncements to be on the lookout for
- The SEC’s website – a particularly useful resource
- How can one get value from industry groups
