SEC Reporting and Practice Skills Workshop for Lawyers 2021

Hosted by: Practising Law Institute (PLI)

Nashville partner Gary Brown will be speaking at Practising Law Institute's (PLI) SEC Reporting and Practice Skills Workshop for Lawyers 2021. Though many attorneys learn SEC reporting through on-the-job training, this two-day virtual workshop is intended to replace that ad-hoc learning process by helping participants develop an in-depth understanding of the reporting requirements of the U.S. federal securities laws.

Brown will be instructing the webinar joined by Director of PLI's SEC Institute Division, George M. Wilson, and PLI Program Director, Robin D. Goldstein. They will touch on important rules and techniques for communicating with the public, including what triggers the “duty to disclose,” the importance of “insider trading” policies, and the art of drafting disclosure documents and press releases with a view toward limiting potential liability.

Brown practices in the areas of securities compliance and corporate governance. Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, he served for more than six years as the chief executive officer of a Florida-based financial services company that specialized in the life insurance settlement industry. He has advised a wide variety of public companies in the areas of corporate governance, securities compliance, and mergers and acquisitions.
