Columbia partner James Burns spoke at the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA) Annual Meeting on "Commanding a Crisis: A Governor's Chief of Staff Perspective" on April 25. Burns served as Chief of Staff to former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley from 2014 to 2015.
SCMA held its annual meeting in Charleston from April 24 to 25. The organization considers itself the voice for manufacturing interests in South Carolina, and its annual meeting had speakers from a span of diverse fields and industries.
Burns, who returned to Nelson Mullins in 2015 as partner, practices consumer financial services litigation, business litigation, and government relations. In 2017, he received South Carolina's highest civilian honor, the Order of the Palmetto.
