Atlanta partner Elisa Kodish and associate Alex Shin participated in the awarding of the Emory Public Interest Committee (EPIC) Inspiration Awards at Emory University, of which Nelson Mullins was a sponsor. Kodish is an EPIC member, and Shin is an Emory graduate. The awards honor three community members for their outstanding, lifetime contributions to public service.
EPIC was founded by law students in 1988 to promote awareness and increase understanding of public interest law, encourage and facilitate the employment of Emory students in public interest legal positions, and acknowledge the professional responsibility of lawyers and law students to make legal services more accessible to those who do not have adequate representation, according to the organization. EPIC oversees a highly selective grants process in which deserving students are awarded grants to do meaningful public interest work over the summer.
