Nelson Mullins and BDO to Host “Powering Private and Public Company Success: Value Creation Through Actionable Governance Practices”

Nelson Mullins will co-host the securities and corporate governance summit, “Powering Private and Public Company Success: Value Creation Through Actionable Governance Practices,” alongside BDO on September 30 in Atlanta. This insightful event will offer Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit and virtual accessibility.

The summit will consist of three panels comprised of experienced corporate directors and C-suite executives, along with subject matter specialists, who will share their unique stories and practical advice on navigating governance challenges.

  • “Corporate Governance Challenges Facing Private Companies” will explore the unique corporate governance challenges faced by private and public companies. Attendees will have the opportunity to delve into strategies and best practices to navigate these challenges effectively, ensuring robust governance frameworks that support growth and operational maturity. Speakers include Gerry Benjamin with GreenSky, Elina Cohen with QuickNode, and Avril Sisk with Alpha. Atlanta partner Scott Sherman will moderate the panel.
     
  • “Decision to Go Public: Assessing Readiness and Challenges with the Decision to Go Public” will cover the key considerations and preparations for private companies thinking about going public through an initial public offering. Participants will gain insights into the timing, essential steps, and best practices to ensure a smooth transition and readiness to become a publicly traded entity. Speakers include Nazan Akdeniz with Roth Capital Partners, Paul Davison with APR Energy Board of Directors, Jonathan Goldman with Founder Genesis Capital, and Robert Lawsky with PetMed Express, Inc. Washington, D.C. partner Jon Talcott will moderate the panel.
  • “Keys to Governing in a Post-IPO Environment” will address the corporate governance challenges, opportunities, and evolving practices for companies that have recently gone public. The discussion will revolve around engaging stakeholders, defining roles of management and the board of directors, operating effectively, and ensuring compliance in a post-IPO environment. Speakers include Donald Cogsville with Marchex, Adam Morgan with Avego, and Myrna Soto with Apogee Executive Advisors LLC. BDO national managing partner – corporate governance Amy Rojik will moderate the panel.
