Charleston partner John McElwaine and Nashville of counsel Thallen Brassel will provide an overview of key legal issues companies face when marketing projects and services during an Association of Corporate Counsel Charlotte Chapter’s presentation May 2 beginning at noon at Byron’s South End. The two will address federal compliance obligations and recent enforcement trends, as well as common social media pitfalls; making appropriate advertising claims and disclosures; and considerations for structure/framework of contests, sweepstakes and online promotions.
McElwaine focuses his practice in intellectual property, Internet, domain name and technology litigation, and strategic counseling. He is also based in the Firm's Washington, D.C., office. Brassel concentrates her practice in advertising, communications, and media law issues, including advertising copy review, claims and substantiation, social media, contests/sweepstakes, and regulatory compliance issues.
