Raleigh partner Trish Markus will participate in the North Carolina Bar Association’s 2022 Health Law Boot Camp, a CLE presentation offered in-person and virtually on October 21. The panelists will cover some of the most pressing issues health care companies currently face and offer practical advice on the nuances of practicing health law today. Markus will present alongside Allyson Labban, Associate General Counsel at WakeMed, on the topic, "May I or Must I? How to Protect and Share Health Information Under HIPAA and the Information Blocking Rule".
Markus – who serves as the President-Elect of the American Health Law Association for 2023-2024 – represents healthcare providers and health technology companies across the country on an array of healthcare regulatory compliance, reimbursement, licensure, and operational matters, with a special focus on issues surrounding health information privacy, security, and technology. She provides strategic and practical advice regarding HIPAA and other data privacy and security laws; information blocking and data interoperability requirements; telehealth and health information exchange initiatives, including the eHealth Exchange and TEFCA; technology licensing and services arrangements; cybersecurity risks and data breach prevention and response; clinical research and patient care issues; and compliance and fraud and abuse matters.
