Fort Lauderdale partner Gabe Imperato and Nashville partner Roy Wyman will speak at the Health Care Compliance Association's (HCCA) 2020 Board & Audit Committee Compliance Conference. Imperato is also a past president of the HCCA and Program Chairman for the event.
The Office of Inspector General of Health and Human Services expects board and audit committee members of healthcare organizations to be well-versed in compliance oversight. Wyman, whose practice overlaps technology with healthcare, will give an address on cybersecurity issues such as cybercrime, hacking, and ransomware as well as how to remain compliant with these privacy risks in mind.
Imperato will sit on the panel regarding "Internal Investigations and Health Care Compliance Matters" and give the "Healthcare Fraud and Compliance Update," including recent developments in enforcement and compliance, individual accountability for organizational healthcare fraud, and compliance considerations specific to the new DOJ administration.
Imperato is managing partner of the Nelson Mullins' Fort Lauderdale office and chairs the Healthcare Compliance and Litigation team, with experience representing healthcare organizations on corporate governance and compliance matters as well as those accused of healthcare fraud. Wyman co-chairs the firm's Privacy & Security Industry Group and is lead attorney for HIPAA2z™, an automated HIPAA privacy and security compliance tool offered by Nelson Mullins.
