15th Annual Compliance Officers Retreat

This retreat will feature educational and networking sessions for health care compliance professionals in Georgia. The three days event includes compliance education guidance on real-world compliance issues and emerging trends, including a session presented by Atlanta partners Gina Greenwood and Edgar Bueno on healthcare compliance and cybersecurity related issues.

Greenwood has a 20-year career in data privacy and healthcare law, practicing her entire career at three Am Law 100 law firms. Greenwood has successfully represented clients in hundreds of matters involving data privacy, cybersecurity preparedness, breach response, and Office for Civil Rights investigations. She focuses on HIPAA Privacy and Security Rule compliance; 42 C.F.R. Part 2 federal alcohol and drug abuse privacy compliance, Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Act privacy/security compliance, PCI DSS Standards Compliance; Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GBLA) privacy compliance; General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance; Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) compliance, and state consumer protection privacy, security, and breach notification laws. She is approved cyber incident and investigations counsel for two of the largest insurance carriers in the world and has a 100% success rate. 

Bueno has more than 20 years of experience defending clients under investigation by the government. He focuses his practice on civil, criminal, and administrative matters involving healthcare fraud and abuse. He has extensive experience in defending actions brought under the federal False Claims Act (FCA) and similar state laws. He assists healthcare clients with internal investigations and compliance reviews to identify risk areas in operations or in billing. He counsels clients on business arrangements for compliance with the Anti-Kickback Statue and the Stark Self-Referral Law. He advises providers on the reporting of Medicare/Medicaid overpayments and the voluntary disclosure process. He counsels clients on OIG program exclusions and payment suspension issues involving CMS. Bueno also has experience in advising clients on HIPAA privacy and handling investigations involving medical record breaches.
