OSHA has begun inspecting work sites for safety related to COVID-19 and has now issued its first COVID-related citation to an employer. To help employers provide a safe workplace, OSHA has published several documents to assist employers, including a Guidance on Preparing Workplaces for COVID-19, an Updated Interim Enforcement Response Plan for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), and Revised Enforcement Guidance for Recording Cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Our Nelson Mullins team has provided more information on each of these guidance documents in the articles below.
One of the primary recommendations from OSHA is for each employer to create an Infectious Disease Preparedness and Response Plan. Our environmental and employment attorneys have worked together to understand the OSHA guidance documents and to create a Safe Operations and Wellness Plan for our clients that includes the OSHA recommendations. We are prepared to provide assistance to our clients with respect to drafting and implementing a safe workplace plan and in assessing any need to report illnesses to OSHA. We are prepared to respond quickly to any workplace safety issues or agency inspections. If you would like our assistance with these or any other safety matters, please do not hesitate to contact us.
