Nelson Mullins Names Chris Cushing to Lead D.C. Office

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP has appointed Christopher T. Cushing to lead its Washington, D.C. office, where he also will continue to serve as the national team leader for Federal and State Policy and continue to serve clients in his role as a Senior Policy Advisor. As a non-attorney, serving in these leadership roles is particularly important in the Washington, D.C. office given the number of other non-attorney policy advisors in the office and the critical relationships tied to the Administration, Congress, regulatory agencies, and international organizations.

Cushing has 35 years of experience in government, politics, and corporate public policy issues and is an experienced political advisor and strategist, having served in leadership positions on winning presidential campaigns on three continents. He and two team colleagues recently were named to the Top Lobbyists 2020 list by The Hill newspaper. He joined Nelson Mullins in 2009.

The Washington office houses 75 attorneys, policy advisors, and support staff with years of experience at the forefront of political, business, litigation, regulatory, and diplomatic developments. Nelson Mullins represents national and global clients with needs closely tied to the Administration, Congress, regulatory agencies, and international organizations. Washington office corporate attorneys have transactional experience in banking and securities regulation, including investment company and broker/dealer issues. Washington office litigation attorneys often represent clients in matters of federal agency law and telecommunications.

The Federal and State Policy team Cushing leads includes more than two dozen attorneys and policy advisors, with in-depth experience in public affairs at the international, federal, state, and local levels. The team includes former diplomats, Cabinet officials, elected representatives, and high-level Congressional staff members.

Established in 1897, Nelson Mullins has more than 850 attorneys and government relations professionals with offices in 11 states and Washington, D.C. For more information about Nelson Mullins, please visit www.nelsonmullins.com.
