Anthony A. Laurentano is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough in its Boston office where he practices in the intellectual property group.

Mr. Laurentano has nearly 20 years of experience in intellectual property law.  He has extensive experience in patent and trademark prosecution, strategic landscape and due diligence reviews, litigation support, as well as preparing patentability, invalidity, and non-infringement opinions.  Mr. Laurentano assists clients in the strategic development, protection, and management of patent portfolios in a wide variety of technical areas, including complex electrical, mechanical and electro-mechanical devices, automotive technologies, optical electronics and related systems, semiconductor devices, medical devices, gaming technologies, and computer related inventions.  In addition, he has developed extensive experience in the clean technology field by assisting clients in both fuel cell and solar power areas over many years.

His notable experience includes:

  • Serving as patent counsel for industry leaders including:  one of the world’s largest automotive companies; a leading manufacturer of high quality industrial power tools and accessories; a global automotive systems manufacturer; and one of the largest international manufacturers of mechanical seals and composite coatings and maintenance products.
  • Assisting start-up and early stage companies in identifying the best use of limited resources to obtain patent protection that is aligned with their business goals.
  • More than 15 years of experience in the clean technology field securing more than 475 patents in the field, including fuel cells and solar cells.

He is listed in Massachusetts Super Lawyers (2005-2011). Mr. Laurentano is a member of the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Boston Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association where he is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Laurentano is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Boston Patent Law Association, Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, and UMass Lowell’s Industrial Advisory Board of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Mr. Laurentano earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 1992 from Suffolk University Law School. He earned his Bachelor of Science, summa cum laude, in Electrical Engineering from University of Lowell in 1989.
