In that realm, she has handled and been involved in claims ranging from lease and development contract breaches, land use and zoning disputes, eminent domain matters, easement and right-of-way matters, tax assessment, design and construction defects and insurance coverage. Her experience also includes general board governance, competitive public procurement, advisory on delivery methods such as public-private partnerships (P3) and facilitating construction through eminent domain and condemnation.

Experience

  • Successfully obtained jury verdict as lead trial attorney in an international dispute against a former shareholder/director stemming from allegations of usurping corporate opportunities, involving extensive issues of business valuation and lost profit damages. 
  • Prevailed at trial as first chair in a trust litigation matter against a former trustee of a family trust involving breaches of fiduciary duty and loyalty, appraisal issues, and related probate litigation issues.
  • Successfully represented a government client to cover a defense verdict that protected a rural boundary in a declaratory state constitutional challenge, which gained both national and local public attention. This consequential development accounted for over 200 acres of land and protected one-third of a county’s land from commercial development by restoring its designation for rural use. In addition to obtaining the favorable declaratory judgment, the government client was awarded entitlement to full and significant attorneys’ fees.
  • Experienced in state constitutional law, including successfully contesting a proposed amendment and ballot initiative related to casino gaming before the Florida Supreme Court.
  • Represents a private university in defending against a COVID-19 tuition reimbursement action.
  • Has litigated numerous construction defect cases and commercial landlord/tenant disputes.
  • Experienced in trust and probate litigation, including will contests, claims of undue influence or lack of capacity, actions brought against personal representatives or trustees, and actions involving creditor claims.
  • Represented such clients as prominent regional and national corporations, private universities, governmental entities and non-profit organizations.
  • Has practiced before state and federal courts, administrative agencies and American Arbitration Association panels.
