Previous Professional Experience

  • Chief Executive Officer and President, Pine Gate Renewables, LLC – Charlotte, NC, Asheville, NC, Jacksonville, Fla. (2016-2018)
    • Led the company from a team of eight to 86, opening three new offices, developing more than 1 GW of pipeline in 12 states and more than 350 MW of operating assets, with long-term contracts. During this time the company grew from a small early stage greenfield development shop to executing on new market strategy, public policy engagement, development operations, project and corporate financing, EPC oversight and self-performance, O&M, and asset management. The company was primarily backed by New Energy Capital 
  • General Counsel and Vice President, FLS Energy, Inc., Asheville, N.C. (2011-2015)
    • Worked with other senior executive team members to build a company that developed, financed, and built more than 450 MW of utility scale solar projects and 40 solar rooftop projects. Negotiated and managed all major company transactions including raising multiple rounds of corporate debt facilities, the sale of approximately one third of its operating assets to s-Power, and sale of the company to Cypress Creek Renewables in 2016
  • Special Counsel, Winston-Salem law firm (2007-2011)
    • Founded the law firm’s renewable energy practice, becoming a leading renewable energy practice in the Southeast. Served as relationship manager and lead counsel for solar developers, CHP developers, biomass companies, landfill gas companies, swine-waste to energy developers, local governments, banks, and tax equity investors
