Representative Matters

  • Represents businesses and individuals in contract disputes and commercial transactions.
  • Represents clients in emergency pre-judgment relief, including restraining orders, injunctions, attachments, and claim and delivery.
  • Defends municipal liability claims, including 42 U.S.C. 1981 and 1983 actions.
  • Handles caveat will dispute cases.
  • Where appropriate, helps clients avoid litigation and negotiate disputes outside of court.
  • Automotive Dent Technology, Inc. v. Warren, 2017 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 95519 (June 21, 2017): Successfully moved to dismiss various business tort claims.
  • Surratt v. Brown, 2016 NCBC 27 (April 1, 2016): Successfully defeated defendant's motion for summary judgment and settled the matter prior to trial.
  • Baldwin v. City of Greensboro, 714 F.3d 828 (4th Cir. 2012): Assisted in winning summary judgment for the City of Greensboro, which was affirmed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
  • Wray v. City of Greensboro, 2013 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 117361 (M.D.N.C. August 19, 2013): Assisted in winning summary judgment for the former City Manager for the City of Greensboro on 42 U.S.C. 1981 racial discrimination claims by the former Chief of Police for the City of Greensboro. 
  • Fox v. City of Greensboro, 807 F. Supp. 2d 476 (M.D.N.C. 2011): Assisted in successfully moving to dismiss 42 U.S.C. 1981 and Fourth Amendment claims brought against employees for the City of Greensboro.
