Experience

  • Represents a variety of industries, including glass and plastic manufacturers, elevator/escalator manufacturers, airlines, asbestos product manufacturers, marine and industrial equipment manufacturers, and the manufactured housing industry, in toxic tort and complex litigation cases
  • Has handled thousands of cases in South Carolina, North Carolina, and other southeastern states
  • Experienced in alternative dispute resolution, having participated in numerous arbitrations and mediations
  • Tried asbestos personal injury cases in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida, on behalf of manufacturers of thermal insulation, friction products, and marine and industrial equipment –including pump and valve manufacturers
  • Participated in the defense and trial of asbestos personal injury cases in North Carolina, Maryland, West Virginia, Texas, and other Southern states during his numerous years of defense work
  • Has tried other cases, including product liability and intellectual property cases, and handled appeals to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals
  • Coordinated the preparation and presentation of defense experts in various disciplines, including medicine, toxicology, industrial hygiene, the history of medical and occupational safety, and related fields and has taken a leading role in opposing such experts presented by the plaintiffs' bar
  • Served as regional counsel for a number of equipment manufacturers in asbestos litigation, and assisted in providing national counsel services for other asbestos defendants, with an emphasis on corporate and expert witness development, historical liability analysis, and site discovery
