He holds his CIPP/E certification from the IAPP and has helped counsel clients on the contours of the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) since its inception, to include working with client data protection personnel in order to help develop and implement effective data collection, processing, and transfer strategies for US-based litigation. He has also assisted multiple clients build and implement compliance programs from the ground up in advance of laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and he regularly counsels clients on compliance obligations under various privacy statutes. Colton is currently a member of the IAPP, The Sedona Conference Working Group 11, and DRI. He is OneTrust certified, including multiple OneTrust expert certifications.
