Adair Bledsoe is the Associate General Counsel of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, practicing in the Firm’s Columbia, SC office. In that role, Adair helps manage a number of functions related to the business side of the Firm, such as claims/litigation management; engagement agreements with clients, including Outside Counsel Guidelines; Firm-wide ethics compliance and advice; and advising Firm management on legal matters, insurance coverage, and risk prevention/training. Prior to joining Nelson Mullins, Adair was a Deputy General Counsel for nearly 18 years with the publically traded IT company, Computer Sciences Corporation (now DXC Technology), where he was the practice group lead for the Labor, Employment and Immigration functions. Adair also did some commercial and corporate work for an international tire manufacturer and for an IT company in North Carolina/Georgia. After graduating from law school, Adair spent 6 years with a well-known, boutique law firm in Atlanta.

Previous Professional Experience

  • Deputy General Counsel, Computer Sciences Corporation (now DXC Technology)
    • Provided daily advice and counsel to management on the numerous, differing employment matters that arise in a nationwide workforce of more than 45,000 employees in order to minimize risk and avoid litigation. 
    • Provided legal and operational advice surrounding the offering of stock purchase, stock option, and restricted stock plans to employees in various countries worldwide.  
    • Led company’s defense of one of the first and largest wage & hour class action lawsuits against an IT firm challenging exempt classifications.
    • Designed non-compete agreements for executives in the U.S. and various countries around the world, with the agreements tailored to comply with local law.
    • Investigated internal ethics complaints, including those submitted through the company’s Open-Line.
    • Frequent instructor on compliance, ethics, and policy issues to members of senior management.
  • Associate, Atlanta, GA office of a boutique law firm
    • Handled all types of labor & employment matters for clients ranging in size from the Fortune 500 to small, local concerns.
    • Appeared and argued before federal and state courts, arbitration panels, and administrative agencies.
    • Handled litigation and negotiation involving commercial matters such as contract enforcement, debt collection, civil racketeering, fraud, bankruptcy and trade secrets.
