The Water Environment Association of South Carolina has awarded Karen Aldridge Crawford, a partner in Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP’s Columbia office, with a Life Member Award.
Crawford practices in the areas of environmental law and litigation, toxic torts, and products liability. In 1997, the Institute of Professional Environmental Practice recognized Crawford as a Qualified Environmental Professional, a distinction awarded after 15 years of experience and examination on a specific technical environmental project. In 2012, she was Best Lawyers' Environmental Litigation Lawyer of the Year for Columbia, S.C., and in 2008 she was in the first invited class to be inducted into the American College of Environmental Lawyers.
The WEASC organization includes water distribution, collection, and treatment professionals; engineers; regulators; and product suppliers who seek to promote, protect, and preserve the water environment, according to the organization. The organization is the S.C. affiliate of the national Water Environment Federation. Crawford has been involved in the organization for more than 30 years.
