ATLANTA – Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta (PBPA) has named Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP as Law Firm of the Year for contributions of time and legal skills in helping Atlanta-area nonprofits in 2020. The organization also recognized of counsel Jessica R. Watson with a Volunteer of the Year Award.
PBPA noted in its video awards recognitions, hosted at Nelson Mullins’ Atlanta office, that the firm had volunteered on almost 100 projects for more than 700 pro bono hours in 2020.
Atlanta partner Brian Galison accepted the award for the firm. “We don’t do it for the recognition,” Galison said. “We appreciate the work the Pro Bono Partnership does and are happy to support its mission.”
Watson’s award was presented by Amy Sharma, vice president of Science for Georgia. Watson participated in 11 projects for PBPA in 2020, Sharma said. “She did a great job providing FLSA compliance advice to Science for Georgia,” she said.
“I am honored to accept this award and feel lucky to have had the opportunity to work with great organizations through Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta,” Watson said in accepting the award.
PBPA assists 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organizations that serve low-income or disadvantaged individuals who are unable to pay for legal services. The organization matches eligible organizations with volunteer attorneys from the leading corporations and law firms in Atlanta.
