Nashville partner Nina Kumar was honored with the Attorney for Justice award in recognition for her pro bono service in 2017. It is given by the Tennessee Supreme Court to lawyers and law students who offer at least 50 hours of pro bono service per year.
For her pro bono efforts, Kumar has donated time and legal services to Wills for Heroes clinics throughout Tennessee, which provides free wills and powers of attorney to first responders; serves as a volunteer mediator with the Nashville Conflict Resolution Center; participates in Music City Community Court Expungement Clinics; provides legal services to the Junior League of Nashville; organizes and navigates the state approval process for a Tennessee charter school; and assists an adult special needs facility with real estate sales and corporate reorganization.
Practicing in the areas of commercial transactions, real estate, bond finance, and healthcare, Kumar advises clients on acquisitions and dispositions. She also represents healthcare providers in various contexts and provides them with advice on mergers, acquisitions, financing, and day-to-day operations.
Kumar was recognized for her pro bono service at a regional ceremony on Oct. 8 in Nashville.
