Nelson Mullins partner Leandro Molina and associate Mario Bolaños provided legal counsel for SoftBank Latin America Fund, a venture fund affiliated with Japan’s SoftBank Group Corp. dedicated to investing exclusively in the technology sector in the fast-growing Latin American market, as it led Birdie's $7 million Series Seed financing round.
Birdie develops an AI-powered SaaS platform that captures and analyzes consumer opinions from multiple data sources to remove the noise and uncover insights that support decision-making across the different product life cycle stages to maximize competitive advantage. Birdie plans to use the new funding to significantly expand its team, accelerate growth, and stretch its customer base beyond existing markets in the USA, Brazil, UK, Mexico, Spain, and Germany to China, Italy, France, India, and Russia.
Molina also advised Softbank as the co-investor in Nilo Saude's $10 million Series A financing round. Other lead investors on this deal included GFC (Global Founders Capital), and Tau Ventures. Nilo Saude is a Brazil-based SaaS platform aimed at delivering patient relationship management, telemedicine services, and data analytics services supporting clinical decision-making and patient health management. The Company plans to use the new funding to further develop its product and expand its team.
Molina has worked on numerous transactions, counseling and providing assistance in a wide range of projects in the United States, Latin America and worldwide, including private equity, venture capital, investment fund structuring, financing and M&As. Molina has also assisted startup and emerging growth companies, funds, family offices and VC players in portfolio investments in equity and debt, as well as in other corporate and securities law matters.
Bolaños focuses his practice on guiding venture capital funds and startup companies through a wide variety of venture capital or growth equity financings and general corporate governance matters. Additionally, Bolaños has experience assisting publicly traded companies and private equity funds on various buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, both within the United States and worldwide.
