Nelson Mullins Expands Financial Institutions Practice With Addition of Tom Ko, Craig Nazzaro

NEW YORK and ATLANTA (Oct. 10, 2017) – Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP announced today the expansion of its Financial Institutions practice with the arrival of Thomas Ko and Craig Nazzaro.  Ko, who has joined the Firm as a partner in the New York office, was most recently with Reed Smith. Nazzaro, who was most recently with Baker Donelson and previously vice president and assistant general counsel with J.P. Morgan Chase, joins as of counsel in the Atlanta office.

Both of them have significant in-house experience that gives them a unique client perspective,” said Neil Grayson, head of the Firm’s Financial Institutions practice. “Tom’s regulatory and derivatives experience and Craig’s consumer compliance experience add depth to our team. They will be great assets for our clients.”

Ko also has experience with the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi-UFJ, Ltd., and was previously the head of the U.S. regulatory group of Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and CIBC World Markets Corp. With a focus on bank regulatory matters, his experience includes Dodd-Frank Act matters as well anti-money laundering issues.

A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (B.S., 1995) and the Indiana University School of Law (J.D., 1998), Ko is a member of the New York Bar.

Nazzaro advises a variety of entities on all regulatory and compliance issues that impact the consumer lending industry, including banks, non-bank lenders, servicers, investors, third party payment processors, and debt collectors. He has extensive experience with the Dodd-Frank Act and has counseled clients on data protection and cybersecurity issues. While with J.P. Morgan Chase, he managed a team of more than 20 attorneys and paralegals responding to consumer lending issues presented by various state attorneys general as well as various federal and state agencies.

A graduate of American University (B.A., 2000) and Hofstra University School of Law (J.D., 2003), Nazzaro is a frequent author with regard to industry related topics.
