Nelson Mullins Expands Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Efforts in Pursuing Mansfield Rule Certification Process

ATLANTA - Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP is pleased to announce the firm is pursuing Mansfield Rule certification from Diversity Lab, which aims to increase and sustain diversity in law firm leadership. Nelson Mullins is participating in the rule 6.0 certification process running from July 2022 to July 2023.

The certification effort is focused on law firms to considering at least 30% historically underrepresented lawyers from all four groups when appointing to leadership roles and promoting into the equity partnership, among a dozen other activities that focus on the path to leadership. Firms must also consider 30% underrepresented talent for C-suite roles.

“I believe our Firm efforts around Diversity, Equity and Inclusion have been fruitful, but it is important that our efforts are also measurable and sustainable,” said Kat Taylor, Nelson Mullins’ Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. “Mansfield helps to inform the work we are already doing, and it introduces additional ways we can track and measure success. While, we have buy-in from Firm leadership, Mansfield helps us to organize our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion priorities.”

Nelson Mullins will share lessons learned with other participating firms through monthly knowledge sharing forums. The firm must continue to meet routine check-in, data-collection, and reporting milestones as well.
