Knapp, Labarge Provide Community Impact During Leadership Broward Program

Fort Lauderdale partner Scott Knapp and associate Sophie Labarge recently graduated in the XL class of Leadership Broward, a leadership development program designed for adults who currently hold leadership positions and are involved in their community. The monthly daylong sessions expose participants to the multitude of issues and resources related to the Broward community.

During the program, each participant is given the opportunity to develop a wealth of knowledge about Broward County, to build a valuable contact network, to learn their leadership style, develop their self-awareness, and enhance their leadership skills. Participants  also work with a team community project.

The program culminates with a graduation where class participants present a report on their community projects and receive the LB achievement pin.

Knapp worked with the Exceptional Theater Company (ETC), an all-inclusive theater program for teens and adults with special needs. Through the power of theater, ETC actors learn life skills, build confidence, and have an opportunity to shine. Knapp helped reboot ETC’s social media and conducted a media day with the actors and their families to get professional headshots that could be used in playbills and images that could be used for social media marketing.

Labarge worked with the American Lung Association to impact the community by raising awareness of lung diseases during the Las Olas Wine and Food Festival. Her team’s plan included delivering education during the festival and continuing their deliverables throughout Lung Force Turquoise Takeover, a national movement led by the American Lung Association. Lung Force unites women in the fight against lung cancer, the No. 1 cancer killer of men and women in the United States.

Knapp has a broad background in complex business and civil litigation. He has experience representing clients in matters involving breach of contract, enforcement of restrictive covenants, class actions, consumer protection, unfair and deceptive trade practices, upstream entity and corporate liability defense, partnership disputes, professional liability, other business torts, and bankruptcy-related litigation.

Labarge focuses her practice on litigation and appellate matters, with experience representing government entities, financial institutions, and corporate clients at the state and federal level. She has worked on matters involving foreclosure, legal malpractice, premises liability, and wrongful death.
